Out of this Galaxy
The final frontier is the Galaxy – the fourth and final sneaker in a series exploring the new Retro Sneakers collection
Originally introduced in 1983 (the same year as the Competition), the Galaxy keeps with Bally’s origins with a level of elevated sportswear one would expect of a running shoe crafted with suede accents. Under the guise of the super star duo of Gavino for him and Gavinia for her, the Galaxy family’s universal style rounds out the Retro Sneakers collection with a unisex appeal – a galactic foot forward for anyone’s style.
But the Galaxy’s appeal isn’t just because of its retro-meets-modern nature. The original model was Bally’s lightest ever sneaker, and in true replica fashion, the 2018 version retains this same quality, courtesy of the original lightweight, treaded rubber sole and a breathable, modern cotton canvas upper. The garnet red version for him and for her arrives through space-time from 1983, whilst the Kodak yellow and black derivations for men compliments the women’s iteration in blush pink with a decidedly 2018 twist.
the Galaxy keeps on spinning, ageing not a day, and remaining the cult sneaker it always has been. Watch this space.
The time-travelling nature of the Galaxy is its strongpoint – just as lightweight as it was in 1983, and equally as stylish, one has to wonder whether there’s some sort of magic behind the B-shaped stripes on the side of the shoe. That, or – much like the Milky Way – the Galaxy keeps on spinning, ageing not a day, and remaining the cult sneaker it always has been. Watch this space.
