Charlotte Rey is a Swedish interior and furniture designer. What are your traditions for the winter holidays?
We always get the biggest tree we can possibly fit into the house and then dress it with all the decorations we’ve collected over the years. Some are made by family, and some are from museum shops (the Uffizi in Florence make hand-painted Botticelli Christmas baubles).

Do you prefer being the host or a guest? And why?
I love hosting at home for family and friends. I think it’s really nice to spoil your guests and really get people into the spirit. English and Swedish traditions go very well together, so it’s lovely to shop for delicious and seasonal foods in the local markets. Knäck (Swedish hard toffee with almonds) is always a hit and takes hours to make.
What was the last present you bought?
Because of what I do for a living, I tend to gift things that we’ve made, such as a set of our Campbell-Rey handblown Murano glass champagne coupes.

What is the most memorable winter holiday? Where? And with whom?
Growing up, my family went to Lech am Arlberg, a mountain village in the Austrian Tyrol, every Christmas. Those holidays were incredibly special to me. When I think of a winter wonderland, I think about there.

How do you define yourself?
Someone who loves beautiful things and gardening.

What is contemporary design for you?
Good design is timeless yet timely.

What are you working on at the moment?
We have just launched our first Campbell-Rey furniture collection for the design platform The Invisible Collection, which we are very excited about. We are also working on the interiors of a Beaux Arts villa in San Remo, a pre-war apartment on the Upper East Side, a canal house in Utrecht and a few projects in the U.K.
